Change My Federal W-4
This job aid is used to guide an individual how to change the Federal W-4. Federal W-4 is used to decide the tax qualifications, exemptions and amounts that an individual should claim for federal taxes when deducted from a payroll check.
Navigation: Myself > Pay > Income Tax
- Select Add/Change Withholding Form (W-4) under Things I Can Do.
- Select Federal Employee’s Withholding Certificate (W-4).
- Select Yes or No for Are your paychecks subject to Federal income tax?
Note: The Full Instructions link will open the current W-4 form with IRS provided instructions on how to complete.
- Select Filing Status radio button in Step 1: Personal Information.
- If No was selected for Are your paychecks subject to Federal income tax?, Select next.
- If Yes was selected, continue to the next step.
- Select Yes or No radio button for Step 2: Multiple Jobs.
- Select Yes or No radio button for Step 3: Claim Dependents.
- Enter number of qualifying children, if applicable.
- Enter number of dependents, if applicable.
- Enter Amounts for Step 4: Other Adjustments, if applicable.
- Select next.
- Review W-4 Withholding Certificate.
- Select the check box next to Under penalties of perjury, I declare that I have examined this certificate and, to the best of my knowledge and belief, it is true, correct, and complete.
- Select Sign & Save.
